Internet

In most International Student Houses there is an internet connection per room available. This is included in your rent, so no extra fees will be charged for this. Per building there is a 100 Mb glas fiber available.

Only at Antillenstraat and Paddepoel apartments, you need to arrange your own internet connection. For wired internet this could cost you around € 20,- as you only need to connect the nternet and not your TV cable. At Antillenstraat the TV cable connection is already active and included in your rent.

At our Paddepoel apartements you need to connect TV and internet.

At Kornoeljestraat every room is directly wired to the glasfiber internet facility of the University. Therefore the internet connection of this building is the best of all our International Student Houses.

Winschoterdiep is a very big student house with more then 300 residents; each user is limited for 3 Mbit/s down and 2 Mbit/s up here. Internet is wired per room (there is a utp socket in your room). The network can be busy in the evening.

At all other International Student Houses we offer a wireless internet connection. Here you can expect 4 Mbit/s down and 2 Mbit/s up. You should be able to use the internet for normal surfing, research and basic communication with home. Do not expect to quickly download movies, games etcetera for 24 hours a day as your bandwidth is limited per user.

Skype is a different story. It is certainly possible, but it is sensitive and a good and stable connection depends on many factors (also at the receivers end). Do not expect the world of this way of communication at peaktimes in our busy student houses.

We advise you to bring an external WiFi USB receiver.

For settings, please check our manuals here for XP, MAC, Vista and Windows 7.
