Winschoterdiep has been one of the Housing Office's biggest International Student Houses since 2007. The building used to be an office, but now more then 300 students live here. There are 308 single rooms, 15 shared rooms, 4 rooms for our student managers and 1 guestroom. In total you live with 338 foreign students from all over the world.

The rooms are clustered in 4 blocks, AB ground floor and 1st floor and CD ground floor and 1st floor. Block AB first floor is especially for phd/master students. There is a big entrance hall with a reception area. For 4 hours a day (8.00-12.00 hours) on every weekday there is caretaker available for maintenance issues, the mail, cleaning, deliveries and all your questions. Apart from a caretaker, 4 student managers live and work in this building.
Per person there is a single bed with a mattress, a pillow and a duvet, a wardrobe, a table and chair, a bookshelf, sometimes an armchair, a desk light and a waste bin.
There are several common areas spread throughout the building. Ussually they have a television. There is no TV connection in your room. In the building there is one bigger social area, like a bar. Your student manager can book this for you for a small gathering. It may be used only a few times a month and nuisance because of it for other residents is obviously not tolerated. Furthermore there are several ''locked in'' gardens which are lovely to sit in when the weather is nice.
There is a no smoking policy in this building.
In total there are 13 kitchens, small and big, spread through the building. They have cookers, refrigerators and freezers, ovens and sometimes microwaves. Every student has his own kitchen box with basic kitchen inventory like pots, pans, plates, cutlery etc. It is not allowed to leave these things in the kitchen. At the end of your stay your kitchen box should still be complete, so take care of your stuff. There are several units with showers and toilets in the corridors and there are washing machines and dryers available.
Bikes can be put outside in special bike racks or in a bike shed. Parking space is available for students, but you need to get a licence for it (not for free). These licences cost € 31,- per month. For more information please ask your student manager.
You may rent a sealed bed linen packet, with a sheet cover, a duvet cover and a pillow case for € 18,50 per stay. You will pay this amount with your first month rent. The rented bed linen should be handed in upon leaving.
Please note there are strict rules here with regard to noise nuisance (inside as well as outside!) as the building is big and so many students live here.
It will take you approximately 10 minutes to bike to the city centre and 25 minutes to the Zernike University area.
At Winschoterdiep there is cable internet. There is an utp socket in your room so don't forget to bring your utp connection cable to be able to connect your laptop to our network.
Rent per month from the first of August 2011 all in: single rooms of € 376,- and € 404,- and shared rooms between € 282,- and € 325,- per person including wired internet. Most rooms are big around the 25m2.
