Melkweg/Kraneweg is located at a corner very close to the city centre of Groningen. Some students know the building as the ''milky way''. There are 3 front doors for 3 buildings next to each other. Each building has 4 different floors and there is no elevator. Here you find 23 shared rooms only (2 students of the same gender in 1 room). There is one room for our student manager. In total you live with 46 students from all over the world.
Per person there is a single bed with a mattress, a pilow and a duvet, a wardrobe, a table and chair, desklights and waste bins. Sometimes there is extra furniture like an old sofa or side table left by other students.
There are 8 different kitchens with cookers, fridges, freezers and cooking utensils (pots, pans, plates, cutlery etc.). All is shared. In the corridors you will find several units with showers and toilets and there are washing machines and dryers available per building.
There is no common room. Most kitchens have a television and this is where students cook, eat their meal and come together. There is no tv connection in your room. Bikes can be put behind a fence under a roof at the back of the building. There is no parking space for students' cars.
It will take you approximately 2 minutes to bike to the city centre and 15 minutes the other way to Zernike University.
Rent per month all in: between € 266,- and € 282,- per person including wireless internet. Rooms vary in size from 16m2 up to 35m2.
