Our renovated international student house at Ketwich Verschuurlaan is situated in the South of the city and in total there will be 200 international students living here from all over the world!
The building consists of two separate buildings, the A-building and the B-building.
In total Diaconessenhouse has 190 single rooms and 5 double rooms (2 students per room). Our three studentmanagers are living in the buildings as well.
Room
Per person there is a single bed with a mattress, a wardrobe, a table and chair, desk light and a bookshelf/bookcase.
Kitchen & corridor
In each corridor there is a kitchens which you share with the other students living in your corridor (around 12 rooms). In the kitchen you will find refrigerators, freezers, a microwave, an oven and cookers for common use.
Rent
Rent per month all in: single rooms € 342,- or € 367,- per month and double rooms € 294,- per person including the use of an internet connection. The sizes of the single rooms vary from 13m2 to 18m2 and the double rooms are about 26m2.
Cleaning service
The cleaning service in Diaconessen house is provide by a professional cleaning company. The toilets and showers will be cleaned three times a week and the kitchen two times a week. Once a week the corridors and stairways will be clean. Please, keep in mind that the cleaning company will not clean your mess or do your dishes. For the kitchen there is a schedule to do the kitchen duties by the students (house rule).
Laundry
In each building are ill be facilities for washing and drying provide by Miele laundrette. The price is not inclusive the rent: for each time you use the washing machine or dryer you have to pay. You will receive more information how it works in your information guide if you arrive.
Internet
You don't have television connection in your room or someware in the building. The rooms do have a wired internet connection. This is include the price. Please, don’t forget to bring your own connection cable with you.
Personal inventory package
Please note that we do not supply our rooms with a personal inventory package as of 1 July 2012. You can order your kitchen inventory package when you fill out the application form on our website. Please also check our section 'information tenants'.
You may rent a sealed bed linen packet, with a sheet cover, a duvet cover and a pillow case for € 18,50 per stay. You will pay this amount with your first month rent. The rented bed linen should be handed in upon leaving.
Extra information
There is private parking space available in case you bring your car with you. Bicycles can be put either inside a bike shed next to the A-building or the area next to the B-Building. When the demolish work is finish we will place a bike shed also for the B-building. Please, don't put your bike on the front side of the building (not allowed).
There are still old parts of the hospital next to the building. In the coming years these remaining parts will be demolished. Construction workers are busy with demolish the old parts of the hospital. This will cause nuisance. There is still a lot of work to be done in the surrounding of Diaconessen house. There are fences placed around the buildings.
Please note that this student house is in the middle of a family area. This means noise nuisance is not tolerated at any time.
It is not allowed to smoke in your room.
On your bicycle it will take you about 15 minutes to the city centre and 30 minutes to Zernike University.
Nearby the house is a bus stop which will take you to the central station in 20 minutes.
