General information about the private sector
As well as our International Student Houses you can choose to live in a room/apartment in the private sector. We have many contacts with landlords and owners of rooms, apartments and houses in the private sector Housing Office will act as a mediator in this situation. The private sector might be a good option for you if you are interested in living in a Dutch student house.
Dutch students who are going abroad can ask Housing Office to sublet their room while they are being abroad. The private sector is also interesting if you are coming with your partner or even with your children.
If you choose the private sector the Housing Office will act as an intermediary between you and your future landlord. We will match your preferences with the accommodation offered by the landlord. Once we have made a match we will offer you the accommodation by e-mail. Within five working days you need to inform us whether you accept the offer or not. After accepting our offer for accommodation in the private sector you will receive an e-mail from us with all necessary details of your landlord. Your landlord will receive your details as well so you can contact each other.
