Earlier arrival summer 2012 International Student House
By exception in August 2012 it will be possible to arrive earlier from Monday 20 August if your contract starts on the first of September 2012. You need to email your student manager and ask if your room is available. If not, you will need to find a hotel and check in on 1 September 12.00 hours. Also you may not arrive earlier than 20 August, unless you book a room and pay the rent from 1 August 2012. Per early arrival night you pay € 20,-.
New for international students the KEI-WEEK!
The KEI-week is the general introduction for all new students in Groningen. It is the perfect way to get to know the city and learn about all the possibilities for students in Groningen. With a total of nearly 4.500 KEI-participants, the KEI-week is the biggest introduction week of the Netherlands. In one week you will get familiar with everything that Groningen has to offer for students.
The KEI-week 2012 will take place from Monday 13 to Friday 17 August. For this week, you will be sorted in a KEI-group with about 12 to 15 other new students. With your KEI-group you will explore Groningen and participate in all the events during the KEI-week. The events range from information fairs to parties to a culture festival and comedy. The program of the KEI-week is very diverse and includes something for everyone. The KEI-groups will be guided by 2 or 3 senior students. These KEI-leaders will show you around in Groningen and help you find your way. This way you will be able to find all the best bars, restaurants and pubs to your liking. You will also be introduced to all student and sport associations.
Nowadays a large part of the students in Groningen is international and therefore we try to make the KEI-week as accessible as possible for internationals. Information is always provided in Dutch as well as English and there is an information team available that speaks English well. We also provide all conditions for Dutch and international students to integrate during the KEI-week, so you will start to get to know loads of different student straight away.
In order to enjoy the complete program of the KEI-week, it is important to have a residence in the city. Several options of housing are possible during the week: stay-overs, large dorms or finding a room.
When you are planning to rent a room at the Housing Office it is now even possible to start your rental agreement per August the first.
