Your landlord
After accepting our offer for a private sector room or apartment you will receive an e-mail from us with the address, a phone number and an e-mail address of your future landlord. Your landlord is your first contact for housing issues.
You need to let your landlord know when you will arrive and you need to make an appointment with your landlord for picking up your keys.
You may arrive on the day your rental agreement starts. If you would like to arrive a few days earlier, you need to ask your landlord if that is possible. Otherwise you need to book a hostel for the first nights.
Should you arrive much later, please let your landlord and also the Housing Office know. Also your contact person at the RUG or the HG needs to be informed. Bear in mind you will have to pay your rent from the start of your rental agreement even if your late arrival is due to visa problems.
If you do not show up or cancel your accommodation after acceptation, you will loose your deposit money of € 325,- at the Housing Office. This amount will then cover the loss of income of the landlord for keeping a room reserved for you.
Bed linen
In most apartments you will find a mattress, a duvet and a pillow. Do check with your landlord if you need to bring your own bedding or if there is a possibility to rent a bed linen package.
